Almost wrote 2003!  We stayed at home as usual, and Susan came over.  We didn't even turn the television on, and we estimated the time (by our various clocks) and toasted then.  A touch of mead, a bit of conversation, and off to bed.

Yesterday, we did some shopping and I bought a replacement visor pocket for my car -- something I needed for a long time, but didn't realize how old it was until  Merry pointed out it came from my old Plymouth Horizon almost a decade ago!

It's been almost coat-optional, unseasonably mild lately.  At least we had a touch of snow on Christmas.

Sunday, January 11th

The Little Christmas party went well, but a few people I miss didn't show for various reasons.  It's the first time we had it on a Sunday for as long as I can remember.  I got to show off not only my experimentally beardless face, but also my "Nehru 3000" style frock coat I bartered last week in exchange for some swords at the Red Dragon martial arts studio in the McKinley Mall.  Between my mutton chops and the coat, I've been compared to a trucker, someone from the 70s, Neo from the Matrix, and a Hobbit (Frodo in particular).

Yesterday, I went with Chrissie to the same silver jeweler I bought Merry's engagement ring, and got her a diamond-cut Clada ring.  She picked out the style she wanted, and bought a matching necklace with her own money.

Tuesday, January 27th

I just realized that another anniversary of my studies in the martial arts came and went without realizing it.  Chinese new year came early this year, and it is now my wife's sign.  Also a "Monkey", I met a really cool young lady who works as an intern on the farm and we had hours of conversation while packaging vegetables and mucking out stalls.  I hope Merry gets to meet her before she moves on -- she's the kind of person i would like to keep in touch with.

My wisdom tooth finally got extracted the Monday before last, by Dr. Boyd, who is a teacher at SUNYAB and practices at Buffalo General.  It wasn't bad, and my eating is pretty much back to normal already.  Lastly, I just put over $20 in gas in my car for the first time!  It took a while for gas prices to keep up with inflation, but it might start beating the curve if this keeps up.
